Re: Ramey and Hailey Law Firm Fights Industrial Factory

For Immediate Release

Rich Hailey, a former president of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) is working with Richard Middleton, another former AAJ president from Savannah, Ga., and Kansas City attorney Charles Speers in bringing multiple lawsuits challenging Indiana’s industrial or factory model of producing milk and pork in concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs).

The defendants named include Vreba Hoff Dairy, Maxwell Foods/Maxwell Farms, Country View Family Farms, and various local operators. Most of the cases are being filed in Randolph County, with only one case filed in federal court in Indianapolis.

The complaints filed include highly aggressive flies, harmful odors, stacks of dead animals and mismanagement of millions of gallons of manure are among the complaints This system produces intense odors that are believed to be the cause of skin irritations, nausea, headaches, breathing difficulties, and skin irritations.

Re: Indianapolis Attorney Mary Beth Ramey receives National Award

For Immediate Release

Veteran Indianapolis attorney Mary Beth Ramey received a National Distinguished Service Award from the American Association for Justice, formerly known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, at their regular annual meeting held this summer in San Francisco, California. The National Association recognized Ms. Ramey as one of five trial lawyers selected nationally for service to both to their communities and the development of the rule of law. She has also been featured in Best Lawyers in America and Indiana for several years.

Ms. Ramey was the first female to serve as President of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association and was awarded Trial Lawyer of the Year in 1985. She is currently in her third term on the Board of Governors of the American Association for Justice representing the state of Indiana. At the Association’s National Convention, she was also elected Vice Chairman of the Association’s Budget Committee, of which she has been a member for the last three years.

She is the Senior Partner in the law firm of Ramey and Hailey in Indianapolis, Indiana and a frequent writer and speaker nationally on issues regarding advocacy and complex litigation.

Ms. Ramey is originally from Orleans, Indiana and currently resides in Indianapolis, Indiana and Aspen, Colorado.
